It’s that wonderful time of year when the blackbirds have started singing, the Jocks have rampaged over the English (again) and you can reach on top of the wardrobe to retrieve that bat which surely this season will plunder 500 runs.
Yes, it’s time for winter nets.
This season we have four x 3 hour sessions booked at the excellent Sir Thomas Fremantle sports hall on the following Sunday afternoons.
The first hour will be for the U11 and U9 teams (softball) with the following two hours for both the U13 and U15 together with the adults (both ladies and men). The venue has 4 nets so we can keep the juniors to one side thereby saving Ryan’s blushes from being repeatedly castled by a 13 year old.
If your kids, or the neighbours kids are interested or curious or plain bored do encourage them to come along as we are running 3 junior sides this season and hoping to combine a fourth with North Marston.
Costs will be a bargain £5 per session for the adults, U11 and U13 and just £3 for the younger kids attending the first hour. Martin Middleton has applied an early bird discount of £20 for all 4 sessions in keeping with his growing reputation for being fiscally astute.
So do come along and bring that friend or person at the school gate who always mentions that they used to play a bit (and hopefully that bit was for Northamptonshire). The club needs new blood to thrive and deliver cricket to the standard that the ground we are so fortunate to have deserves.
See you on the 26th.
