2025 set to be a great year for cricket

Cublington CC is the perfect place for players of all ages and abilities

As the snow and sleet drive in from the West and temperatures plummet, thoughts turn to warmer times, the smell of freshly cut grass and the sound of leather on willow. And where better to play the greatest game conceived by humankind than the quintessential village that is Cublington.

Located a short drive from both Aylesbury and Leighton Buzzard the club has hosted cricket for over 100 years at the delightful Orchard Ground and 2025 is set to be another festival of cricket for all ages and abilities.

Junior cricket is a cornerstone of the club and in addition to Sunday training sessions (U9 through U17) we have entered sides in local leagues to satisfy the competitive spirit of the children. The Club holds ECB ClubMark accreditation, has an independent safeguarding officer and adults involved with the children are DBS checked. There are multiple ECB qualified coaches at the club who work with the children to ensure they have fun while developing their cricketing skills.

For the younger children (5 – 11) we run both AllStars and Dynamos on a Friday evening in the summer where the children have the full run of the ground while the parents can relax with a cold drink. Details of these sessions will become available later in the year via the ECB AllStars platform.

Cublington are always looking for new children of all ages and abilities with the aim of building a diverse club that is a true representation of the local community. Our U15 side topped the Bucks North Division 1 and there were sparkling team and individual performances across all age groups.

Senior Cricket starts late April, and we have both 1st XI and 2nd XI sides entered in the Four Counties League. In addition, we have a host of friendly Sunday fixtures against opposition that understand a good cricket tea is every bit as important as the game taking place on the pitch. We have eight indoor net sessions booked which start on 11th February at the excellent Kingsbrook School (19:30 – 21:00) so there is plenty of opportunity to run off the Christmas excess.

And if that wasn’t enough Cublington has recently started an ECB disability cricket team and have ambitions to a grow girls/ ladies cricket side.

The ground will be undergoing outfield drainage work in 2025 which will further improve an already fantastic location to play your cricket.

If you are looking for a cricket club with a fabulous rural home ground and a warm welcome drop an email to one of the Cublington Officials and we’ll be sure to get in touch.
